2023, buon fresco, pigment, metal lathe, wood, ceramic, high fire glaze, anthotype, mulberries, 16mm film, drywall, 51” x 108” x 1.75”, 18” x 8”

This work was inspired by the bottom of the sea floor in the Gulf of Mexico.  The work touches on themes of sea bathymetry, deep sea mining and organisms and rocks associated with the depth of the sea. Referencing artifacts, sediment and erosion, this  installation includes a wall collage that bears ceramic fragments, anthotypes a fresco of a sediment core and a 16mm film of the East End Nature Preserve. The film was immersed in contaminated water from the Houston Ship Channel that is right next to the preserve. The adjacent wall has 3 portable frescoes of the bottom of the sea floor in the Gulf of Mexico.
